REPUBLIC DAY

 

Observed every year as a national holiday

This joyous day is glorious in every way

Establishing India as a democratic republic

Today marks the seventy-fourth republic day

 

So have you wondered what makes it so special?

Well let me tell you after years of grueling struggle

In nineteen fifty came into effect the constitution

Of the people, for the people, and by the people

 

The yearning of purna swaraj turned into a resolution

Transpiring today’s autonomous and distinctive nation

This calls for a celebration as this momentous date

Signifies the power vested in the hands of each citizen

 

Locals assemble at Rajpath for the splendid ceremonial parade

The national flag hoisted by the president graces the India gate

Revered awards are presented and martyrs are paid homage

Fighter jets cruise over the sky and military prowess is displayed

 

The tableau of various states reflect India’s diverse culture

And the soothing sound of the national anthem rings in grandeur

This occasion rejoicing the installation of the constitution of India

Represents a harsh past, a lively present, and a hopeful future

The vernal season approaches Bearing new lives, In spring, a flower blooms  And an infant thrives. It lives its life with  Such hope and ambition, So eager to grow up  And then the seasons turn. Adulthood ensues with  A burning passion to conquer, Heat waves of struggle  Announce the arrival of summer.
