A "TALE" OF THOUGHTS

I was in a brown study like many daydreamers

When I remembered a quote from a certain page

How Shakespeare had said “All the world’s a stage,

And all the men and women merely players”

I considered what it meant to put on a charade

To only be seen as a caricature of your being

Reduced to the one attribute they are seeing

If it were to be then what shall be my facade

Will I be the leading lady in the grand scheme?

Or the cackling villainess out to get the lead

Maybe the rival who is ever ready to impede

Or else the mentor that’s held in high esteem

How about the quirky best friend we all adore?

Or the wise friend that shows the prudent way

Just maybe not the ludicrous comic relief, I pray

Perhaps the belle for whose love he shall implore

But what if I am just an unremarkable colleague?

An uninteresting plot point for the story to progress

An ordinary filler arc for the narrative to digress

Or worse, a forgettable bystander with no dialogue

I am so very grateful that this is not the case

Since all of us are the protagonists of our tales

Our anecdotes of the achievements and fails

A legend is born out of the situations we face
